Sir James Elliott, Wellington, and Lady Elliott are expected to return to New Zealand from Britain early next month. On July 25 Sir James had conferred on him by the .Aberdeen Uhiversity the honorary degree of LL.D. This degree was conferred, qu. four distinguished men who were attending the British Medical Association conference in Aberdeen. In conferring the degree, Professor Taylor mentioned that Sir James was a graduate of Edinburgh University, that he had held every important office in the New Zealand branch of the 8.M.A., that he had been editor of the New Zealand Medical Journal-for more than 20 years, and that he had rendered public service of a most distinguished character,
