PETROL PERMITS
ISSUE OF COUPONS AVAILABLE TO-MORROW PERSONAL APPLICATIONS SPECIAL OFFICE TTOURSy The necessary coupons ,for the issue of petrol under the existing special regulations will be available to Gisboi'ne motorists for the coming week-end and, with a view to allowing all members of the motoring public to secure their issue of coupons immediately the special branch at the Post Office will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday. Owners of motor vehicles are advised that personal applications only will toe accepted and the person in whose name the car is registered must make the application for the coupons. For example, a husband cannot apply for coupons for a car registered in his wife’s name. The person whose name appears on the motor registration card must make tire application and application made by any other person in lieu of the owner will not be accepted. Venue of Application
Application must be made at whatever office the vehicle for which application is made Is registered. Owners of cars registered at country post offices or offices outside the Gisborne motor registration area must make their applications at the office from which their vehicular registration was issued.
Applicants will be required to give the registered number and make of the vehicle for which the permits are sought and coupons are to be issued separately for motor vehicles and motor cycles. All private car owners are entitled to the coupons whether or not they have been issued with licenses to procure petrol for business purposes. . » •Should the car lor which the coupons have been issued toe sold the coupons m the property of the owner who sells the car must be handed over to the new .owner. Numbering of Cdupons Each sheet of coupons is numbered from one to 48, and the controller of oil fuel will announce each month he series number of the coupons to be used for that particular month. Only the authorised coupons for the month may be used and the coupons are available only for the month for which the number applies. Motorists are advised that care must be taken of the coupons as only in exceptional circumstances will a fresh issue be made. The local deputy registrar has no power to make this issue and application must be made to the controller in Wellington.
