Military Wedding
I Scott —Bennett (.Vremony in Cathedral The first military wedding to take place in Wellington since the outbreak of war was solemnised at St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral on Monday, when Miss Eileen Amo 'Bennett, eld est daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Bennett, Wellington, was married to Captain Alfred Thomas Scott, First Battalion. Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own), son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Scott, Wellington. Canon Davies performed the ceremony. The bride's sister, Miss June Bennett, was bridesmaid, and the best man, who, like the bridegroom, was in uniform, was Lieutenant Errol Williams. New Zealand Staff Corps. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a short fr'ock o{ ice blue ribbed satin and a toque of navy straw finished with white flowers. Her long shoulder spray was of cyclamen and she wore a fox fur. The bride is well known in the Auckland district, having been general secretary of the Young Women's Christian Association at Whangarei Last year she went to Canada to the World Conference of the Y.W.C'.A. a r one of the Now Zealand delegates She is a niece of the Bishop o' Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett The bridegroom has been prominent in military circles for a number of of years.
