REPERTOR Y E V ENIN O' (Herald Correspondent.) Members of the Tokomaru Bay Repertory Society' and their friends were entertained at a very enjoyable evening held at the tennis and bowling pavilion recently. A three-act play, “Aren't We All?” which was to have been staged at the To Puka Hall, was cancelled on ticcount of the petrol restrictions and staged at the pavilion instead. The following were in the cast: — Miss M. Corbett, Mrs. If. G. Sherwood Hale. Mrs. J. L. Grant. Miss B. Eivers, Messrs. 11. Smith, N. Cornish, J. Todd, R. G. Sherwood Hale, and F. R. Porter; producers, Mrs. K. Roskrugc and Mr. Sherwood Hale; promoter, Mrs. P. MacCallum: properties, Mrs. J. Todd and Mr. L. Mills. After the serving of supper dancing was enjoyed. Valedictory Afternoon Mrs. J. L. Grant and Mrs. N. Oates were joint hostesses at a very pleasant afternoon, when friends of Mrs. ,T. Brodic gathered at Mrs. Grant’s i home to bid her “adieu.” Each guest came representing the j title of a book, and were entertained I in the spacious drawing-room, which was artistically decorated with bowls of beautiful spring flowers. Competitions, music and social chat were enjoyed, winners in the compcI titions being Mrs. P. Kay, for secur- | ing the biggest number of “book titles”; Mrs. 11. S. Short, for the best I title; Mrs. D. Powell, the supplemcni tary prize; Mrs. T. Conole, telegram , competition. | After a delicious afternoon tea, Mrs. Grant wished the guest ,of honour every happiness and presented her with a book. Bridge and Five-Hundred Party The second bridge and live-hun-dred evening conducted by the ladies’ committee of the Church of England was held in the Masonic Hall, 14 tables being engaged in play. Sister Johnston. who was formerly in charge of the Maternity Home in Tokomaru Bay, has been visiting friends on the Coast and is now the guest of Mrs. R. V. Gully—Mr. and Mrs. A. Lark, Wellington, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clark, Hautoria.—Mr. and Mrs. E. Hankey are on a holiday visit io Auckland. Mr. E. El lender, of the Post Office staff, has been transferred to Wellington, Mr. J. Doherty, Avondale, taking his place. Mr. P. Stansfield, Morrinsville, has joined the local office, taking Mr. E. Burdett’s place on the exchange. Mr. and Mrs. J. Brady and their infant daughter are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Pepper.—Miss D. Beattie, Napier, is the guest 'l Miss Hills, at the mission house.
