RUBBER BALLS INCIDENT AN APOLOGY TENDERED (Reed. Sept. 12, Noon.) LONDON, Sept. 11. Lawrence Hislam, a clerk, aged 30 years, was sentenced to a month’s hard labour for .throwing rubber balls in Downing street on August 28. It was stated that Hislarn was an ardent pacifist and idealist. He tendered an apology. On August 28, a man threw a parcel among the crowd in Downing Street. It was found to contain rubber balls inscribed, “Peace Conference Now.”
