RUGBY ABROAD

PLAYERS IN CANBERRA GISBORNEITE AS SKIPPER TERRITORY PREMIERSHIP Four New Zealanders, including A. Kermode and Brian Sceats, both of Gisborne, represented the Royal Military College of Australia (Duntroon) in the final of the Australian Commonwealth Territory Rugby premiership, played last month. Kermode captained the College team, which won its match by 14 to nil against Eastern Suburbs.

The former Gisborne High School students played prominent parts in the game, Kermode registering a try and giving a fine all-round performance, while Sceats, in the full-back position, gave a sound display, handling and kicking well, and showing plenty of speed and initiative. He saved his side on several occasions when they seemed likely to be in trouble. The other New Zealanders in the R.M.C. team were McGregor and Brooker, two lads who formerly were prominent in secondary-school Rugby in the Dominion. Brooker Was especially prominent in the Canberra final.
