MATCH WITH WAIROA

ARRANGEMENTS MADE RUGBY UNION MEETING DRAW FOR SATURDAY A light agenda paper was prepared for members of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union at the weekly meeting last evening, and arrangements were completed for the match with Wairoa on Saturday. Mr. G. J. Jeune presided over the following members: Bro. Denis, Messrs. P. C. Edmondson, W. H. James, J. E. Mercer, T. French, K. F. Jones, and W. S. McKee, iron, secretary.

Caps to be presented to the primary schools’ -representatives were offered by Messrs. McGruers, Limited, and were accepted by the union. It was decided to present the caps at the half-time interval during the Poverty Bay-Wairoa senior representative game at the Oval on Saturday. The caps will be presented by Dr. W. A. Bowie, president of tho union. The difficulty in securing a Colts' team to travel to Wairoa at the weekend was mentioned by the selector. Mr. French, who said that several of the players belonging to one club were anxious to take part in a function being staged that evening by their club. Despite this, however, a strong team will be sent to Wairoa for tho game.

Mr. Goodley (Waikohu sub-union) was appointed manager of the Colts’ team to Wairoa, t and Mr. P. C. Edmondson was appointed manager of the Poverty Bay' team. It was decided to close the Auto Parts Cup junior series and declare Celtic juniors the winners, members speaking highly of the form shown by the Celtic team during the season. Draw for Saturday

The draw for Saturday was made as follows:- Old Boys B v. Athletic (Wairoa), Oval No. 1 at 1.15 p.m.; Old Boys Thirds v. Athletic (Wairoa), Oval No. 2 at 1.15 p.m.; Marist Thirds v. Napier Marist, Oval No. 3 at 1.15 p.m. *
