ASSURANCE BY BRITAIN
NEUTRALITY OF SIAM NERVOUSNESS FOSTERED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed- 9 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 9. A bulletin issued by the Ministry of Information states that the Thai (Siam) Government has for some weeks past been manifesting certain nervousness as to the possibility of violation of its neutrality by belligerent Powers and this nervousness appears to have been deliberately fostered by outside elements.
The British Minister at Bangkok, accordingly has been instructed to assure the' Siam Government that so long as Thai neutrality is respected by other Powers, it will, of course, be completely respected by the British Government.
This assurance is similar to the one already given to Swiss and other Governments and it is hoped that it will effectively remove any doubts that may have been harboured in Thailand as regards the British attitude towards that country.
