RUGBY IN WAIROA
WIN FOR YOUNG FARMERS
(Special to tlio Herald.) WAIROA, this day. In the only senior Rugby fixture played in Wairoa on Saturday, a team representing the Wairoa Young Farmers’ Club defeated a Wairoa subunion team by 15 points to G. Play was of a ragged nature throughout, the backs of both teams lacking suitable opportunities. Both packs toiled hard and kept right up on the ball, but infringements spoilt several promising forward movements. The Young Farmers’ Club team's points were the result of a field goal and two tries by J. Boag, and a converted try by W. Powdrell. For Wairoa, C. Hawea kicked a penalty goal and scored an unconverted try. Mr. B. Parkinson was the referee. Third Grade High School 14 beat Athletic 9.
