In the British Open his qualifying rounds of 69 produced a standard of golf that has . seldom been bettered at 'St. Andrews. Yet in the championship proper his scores were 72, 75, 75, 76, a gradual fading into mediocrity. At the age of 19, however, lapses are not merely pardonable but natural. Consistency will come with experience, and then the best of Bruen, who has won the admiration of famous players, will prevail. I
