PLOT-AGAINST ARMSTRONG ALLEGATIONS BY MANAGER A piot to dethrone Henry Armstrong is alleged by the coloured box.ng cnampion’s manager, Eddie Mead. Armstrong lost his light-weight title, this month to 'Lou Ambers. He is senedmed to defend his welterweight title against Ambers on November 1. Mead will not reveal the grounds for his accusation. However, he has asked the Boxing Commission to Investigate incident associated with Armstrong’s las. tight. There were-rumours that the agnt bad been ”hxea," and of betting in Harlem against the negro titleholder. Mead declares he will _ no permit Armstrong to' fight again in New York State. It is generally conceded Armstrong lost because, under New York rules, he was penalised for low punches in five rounds. Armstrong said after the fight: — ■‘l thought I won. I didn’t intentionally foul Lou. He was thumbing me throughout the fight, though 1 don’t think .he did it deliberately. I’m still a champion, I guess. I shouldn’t feel so bad.”

Ambers summed up the fight thus: —“Armstrong hurt me a couple of times, but I never felt in danger. He landed two low punches which really stung, but did not do any damage. Maybe in the long run 1 all those low punches added up, but it was a good fight.’’
