TIKIWHATA NEWS
INSTITUTE DANCE (Herald Correspondent.) There was a record attendance in Tikiwhata for the Women’s Institute dance last Saturday night, many visitors coming from Gisborne, Bartrntts and Kopuawhara. The hall was beautifully decorated with the institute colours, green and gold streamers, and with ferns, The music was supplied by Mr. J. Otene's orchestra frbm Kopuawhara. A delicious savoury supper was served by the institute members. Mr. Terry Creighton was the winner of a competition, and a novelty dance was won by Mr. and Mrs. George. Songs were sun# by Mr. Howard and Master John George, and extras were played by Mr. J. Calvey. Messrs. S. Brown and A. Suiter were the M.C.’s. Among those present were Mrs. S. Brown, who wore a blue lace frock; Mrs. R. W. Kelly, mauve and silver crepe; Mrs. G. Breingan, floral georgette; Mrs. E. Smith, black satin; Mrs. P. Rbpitini, gold matalasse; Mrs. T. Callaghan, green organdie; Mrs. George, green and gold angel skin; Mrs. Osborne, pale mauve taffeta; Mrs. A. Taipiha, green satin; Mrs. J. Amor, sunbeam taffeta; Mrs. A. Tregoweth, wine crepe; Mrs. Wildenotte, black georgette and lace. Mrs. Worsfold chose a frock of mauve marocain; Mrs. J. L. Smith, chevron stripe; Mrs. J. Moody, black velvet and gold coatee; Mrs. J. Williams, navy taffeta and silver coatee; Mrs. H. Fuller, tartan satin; Mrs. A. Hollis-, check taffeta; Mrs. J. Davin, blue figured georgette; Mrs. D. Barclay, black and apricot satin'; Mrs. L. Woods, scarlet crepe; Mrs. McKeesick, wine satin; Mrs. R. Richardson, biege lace and georgette; Mrs. Hansen, blue and white lame; Mrs. A. Suiter, lemon taffeta; Mrs. Arthur, brown lace. Miss Houlahan’s frock was of pink taffeta; Miss V. Paltridge, gold matalasse and scarlet coatee; Miss D. Devery, green taffeta; Miss E. Smith, blue satin back crepe; Miss F. Warner, lemon ripole taffeta; Miss Lahood, lemon taffeta; Miss L. Shine, brown crepe; Miss A. Kerr, pink satin; Miss Dearness, mauve moire taffeta; Miss M. Jackson, figured georgette; Miss White black, velvet and lace Mr. J. Geary* is an inmate of the Cook Hospital. He was injured while at work on Tuesday.
