TUHOE & BENALLA STUDS PRICES UP TO 300 NS. TOTAL OF 26 BULLS SOLD ■Much interest had been taken in the offering .of 42 pedigree Jersey bulls toy Messrs. F. J. Savage and Sons, Waimana, and Mr. K. G. Poulgrain, Manutuke, at the Gisborne Showgrounds yesterday, but in view of the restrictions on the purchase of petrol the attendance was small. Messrs. Common, Shelton and Company, Limited, whb conducted the sale, report that the consignments came forward in good order, but unfortunately those from Messrs. Savage and Sons’" Tuhoe Stud were not in as good condition as previous years, as a result of the dry conditions experienced -in the Bay of Plenty. The bulls were well distributed throughout the district, many being purchased for the East Coast as far north as Te Araroa. The entry from Mr. Poulgrain’s Benalla Stud came forward in good order, and a yearling from his entry topped the sale at 30gns.. while cue was passed in at 29gns. ' Messrs. Savage and Sons had the bulk of the entry, and sold 23 of those catalogued, while Mr. Poulgrain sold three. The 10 top bulls averaged 221 gns.. and the average for all sold was 15Agns.
