A New York message quotes a communique from Berlin stating that the Polish retreat along the entire frontier continues. Supported by its air force the German Eastern Army kept on the heels of the Poles, forcing ' engagements. Nowysacz was taken. The Dunajec river was crossed and Cracow was occupied without fighting. Marshal Pilsudski’s tomb was accorded military honours. A Copenhagen message quotes a Gerfhan communique stating that the German troops entered Cracow without battle at noon yesterday. After the fall of Cracow the Germans advancing towards Lodz, captured Kielce. The Germans claim that after the t capture of Kielce they are advancing through the western sector to Lysa and Gora. Further north they are nearing Tomaszow and Lodz. They are mopping up the scattered Corridor army north-west of Gruziacz. Ninety guns were captured. Two divisions and one cavalry brigade, bne tank battalion and two firle battalions were destroyed. The survivors escaped by swimming the Vis'tula without equipment. East of the Vistula the TorunStrasbourg highway was crossed. Bridges were thrown across the Drewenz River and the German troops advancing from East Prussia reached the Narew River at Pulstu.sk and Rozan. The German High Command last night stated that the army was advancing on Warsaw and Lublin. The forces also passed within a few miles of Lodz. Those pushing from the south and west drove back the Poles from the Cracow industrial area. Eastern and Upper Silesia were claimed to b e in German hands Further north P.iofirkow and two adjacent towns were captured. Berlin states that Warsaw’s west railway station was bombed and is burning. Bridges leading south from the capital over the Vistula were destroyed. ■
