MEMORANDA
Training college candidates for admission during 1940 are advised that applications will close with the Hawke’s Bay Education. Board oh Monday, October 2. Candidates must be not less than 47 years of age on February 29, 1940, and must have passed the university entrance examination or possess the school certificate qualification, obtained prior to 1939. Valuable scholarships to commence in 1940 are offered by the board of ’governors of King's College, Auckland. These include the MyersBankart scholarship, open -to beys under 13 years of ag'e on January 1, 1940. This scholarship is offered c<nee every four years. Entrance scholarships of £45 per annum for four years are also offered for boys under 13, one for boys under 14, and one for boys attending a preparatory school. Au old boy of King’s College was recently awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. Examination results compare more than favourably with those of other schools. It is announced that the booking for "The Cingalee” season opens at Messrs. Tnttersall and Bayly’s on' Monday next at 9 a.m. for subscribers, who already have had their tickets posted to them. On Tuesday the plan will be thrown open to the general public at 4s 6d plus fax. Subscribers who did not book in on Monday can still reserve their seats dur* 'ng the week. Subscribers' tickets may be obtained froth the 'non. secretary. Mr. M. L. Foster, Adams building. The subscription is .El Is, which entitles members to book 5 seats free of tax.
