GOOD WORK DONE

RETIREMENT OP OFFICERS AI’PUECIATION ON RECORD Tributes to the.services given to the sport of racing by Messrs. B. Coyle and H. E t Dodd were expressed by speakers at the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club, held last evening. The president, Mr. F. Tolerton, said that the thanks of the club were due to Mr. Coyle, who had acted as starter for the club for 30 years. Due to the clash in dates of racing fixtures, Mr. Coyle was forced to resign from the position of starter. The retiring officer had also been a member of the club and had shown that his interest in the club was more, than a surface one by meeting the club with regard to starting fees during the lean years of racing. Referring to Mr. Dodd, who retired from the office of secretary during the year, the president said ? that Mr. Dodd had always done a good job as secretary and had always had the interest of the club and the sport at heart. After other members had eulogised the services of both, it was decided to place on the club minutes appreciation of their work and to convey to both the thanks of the club for services rendered.
