GRATIFYING POSITION

WAIROA A. AND P. SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING HEED ELECTION OF COMMITTEE (Spncial to Uip Hornlfl.) WAIEOA, this day. “It is gratifying to sec that we did finish on tile right side of the ledger, showing a small credit balance ol' C 1,15 12s Bd." stated the president. Mr. A. T. Carroll, when formally moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet at the annual meeting of the Wairoa County Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday. “Taking everything into consideration, that must be considered satisfactory, although it is slightly below last year,” added the president. “Referring to the membership of the society, Mr. Carroll pointed out that (i.'l new members and six junior members were elected last year, making a total of (I!) new members. Pie still thought there was room yet for increasing the number of members substantially. The membership was the only source of revenue the society had and it was the duty ol every member to swell the membership. The president appealed to members of the Young Farmers' Club to come forward and prepare for the time when they would be actively connected with the administration of the society. “The finances are in excellent order,” stated the treasurer, Mr. 11. Crichton, in seconding the motion. Mr. Crichton, endorsed the president's remarks in connection with the need for increased membership and added that the more members they got was an insurance against the risk of bad weather.
