AMPLE STOCKS

WHEAT AND FLOUR SUPPLIES FOR 18 MONTHS UNNECESSAR Y BUYING COMMENT BY MILLER (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. “Ample supplies arc available for till requirements, and any suggestion of hoarding is not only illegal but altogether unnecessary,” said Mr. R. J. Lyon, chairman of the New Zealand Flour Millers’' Society, yesterday. "The price of flour is controlled, and buyers will not be called upon to pay any increase,” ne proceeded. There was a disposition on the part of the public to increase their buying of flour, said Mr. Lyon. They were no doubt anticipating some shortage inter on. The figures compiled during the last few days showed that there were ample supplies of.wheat and Hour at present held by millers *o last New Zealand until the end of March, 19-10.

"That," he said, “is without taking into account’ any wheat from the next harvest which will bo available in January and February. The preliminary figures indicate that there has been a bigger area than usual sown under wheat so far this vear. and it is more than probable that the spring sowing will be larger than for many years past.” It was therefore clear that no one in New Zealand had any need to worry about supplies of wheat or flour for at least 18 months, and by that time another new crop would be in sight. “Householders and others will •herefore assist the authorities by continuing to buy then- supplies only in quantities and sizes that they have been accustomed to in the past. Any undue demand will only compel the grocers to ration supplies and distribute a few pounds at a time, whereas there is no necessity for such action.” RUMANIA NEUTRAL (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sent. 8, 9 a.m.) BUCHAREST, Sept. 6. The Rumanian Crown Council, at a meeting over which King Carol presided, decided to issue a communique that Rumania would observe the strictest neutrality.
