THREE MONTHS ' GAOL
THEFTS BY MAORI ill VESE-COLLARS STOLEN (Special to thu Herald.) TANEATUA, this day. Three charges of stealing horse collars 'were preferred against a Maori, Wcncrci Ifohua, aged 22, when lie appeared before Messrs. Moody and McGougan, J.Ps., in the Police Court in Taqcatua. The accused pleaded guilty to the offences. The first offence was committed on '.he night of August 1G and the other two oil the night oi August 2a. The accused was alleged to have taken one collar to a saddler’s shop and left it there for sale. Mis excuses for taking the other collars were that the owner of one of the collars owed him some money and that the owner of die other had refused to lend him some money.
After reviewing the list of the accused's previous convictions, the Bench sentenced Ifohua to three months’ imprisonment.
