“SHABBY” CABBAGE TREES

REMOVAL ASKED FOR ' RESIDENT’S COMPLAINT The removal of three cabbage trees described as being in “a very shabby state" is to be asked for by the Gisborne Borough Council, following a complaint by a resident of Stout street. The works committee reported that a resident had recommended the removal of one of the trees fronting his property, because it was causing an obstruction to the entrance to his motor shed. “There are three such trees in- this locality,” the report continued, “and the supervising gardener reports that these trees are in a very shabby sllate and are anything but ornamental. Your committee rectammend that the trees be removed.” The removal of a tree in Peel street for the purpose of protecting power cables was requested by the Poverty Bay Electric-Power Board, and the council decided to accede to the request if there was no other alternative.
