MATAWHERO CATTLE FAIR LATE VALUES IMPROVE The improved demand which became evident at Cattle Fair yesterday after the first few hours of selling was maintained during the rest of the sale. Most of the passed-in lots were subsequently sold at prices showing an advance, in some cases, of about 10s a head. Buying was done 'by Wairoa and Hawke’s Bay purchasers. The entry of store cattle was 2271, and the range of prices was: — Bullocks— £7 2s Gd to £8 7s. Two-year Steers. — £4 9s to £4 18s, including three-year-olds at £6 3s. Yearling Steers. —Top lines, £3 10s and £3 lGs; generally £2 15s up. Empty Cows. —Forward, £3 17s and 'l4 10s; good, £3 Gs; others, £1 6s and £2 2s Gd. Grown Heifers. —£3 17s and £4 9s. Two-year Heifers. —£3 Is and £3 7s. Yearling Heifers.—Top lines, £2 15s and £2 19s; small, £1 and £1 ss.
