ITALIAN ENDEAVOURS NOTIFICATION TO BERLIN (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed, Sept. 5, 3 p.m.) ROME, Sept. 4. An official note reviewing the Italian peace efforts after Britain and France had made the German withdrawal from Poland a prerequisite of a conference outlines various contacts which Signor Mussolini made with the Governments concerned, and adds: “After Britain and France had made the evacuation of the occupied territories a fundamental condition of their participation in an international conference, the Italian Government limited itself to advising Herr l-litler of this condition and adding that unless the German Government decided differently, Italy did not think it possible to continue her activities."
