The Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes has accepted the position of Dominion president of the New Zealand Red Cross Society. Major J. Haugh, M.R.C.V.S., who was attached to the Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles, has been transferred to the reserve of officers, according to a recent announcement in the (Gazette. 1 Dr. H. P. Donald, son of Mr. H. P. Donald, of Auckland, who is engaged in research work for Edinburgh University and the British Council of Agricultural Research, has been awarded the degree of doctor of science by Edinburgh University.
Dr. R. J. McGill, latp of the Auckland Hospital, was recently presented with a ceremonial sword by the officers of the 7th City of London Regiment, on his resignation as medical officer to the regiment to accept an appointment in Ilis Majesty’s Indian Medical Service. Dr. McGill is at jubbulpore. Dr. Leopold Mandel will attend the Congress of the International Hospital Association at Toronto late this month, and then will come on to New Zealand to spend two months. Dr. Mandel left Wellington; in 1901 to study medicine at Guy’s Hospital, and, except for a brief visit in 1908, he lias not since re-visited the Dominion
Mr. S. B. Maclennan, who has been for the past four years a student at ihe Royal College of Art in London, represented the New Zealand Government; at the fifteenth International Congress of the History of Art, lately held in London. Mr. Maclennan is returning to New Zealand to take up his duties as art teacher at the Wairarapa College, Masterton. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Maclennan, formerly Miss D. K. Kenwright, of Surrey.
