PATRIOTIC FUND

SEASON’S PROCEEDS OPERATIC SOCIETY SPONTANEOUS GESTURE The first action in the direction of establishing a district patriotic fund was taken by the Gisborne Operatic Society last evening, when a decision was recorded that the net proceeds of “The Cingalee” production, this month would be devoted to partiotie purposes. The season of “The Cingalee” is to commence on September 18, and will continue throughout the following five nights. Local talent has provided an excellent east, and the production is likely to establish a new standard for the society. Subscribers and the public generally will know that when they patronise the operatic effort, at the same time they will be supporting the establishment of a fund which may prove all-important in the not far distant future.
