CLIPPER ON THE WING CANTON ISLAND REACHED DEVIATION TO FIJI FROM NOUMEA IN 14UIRS. (Per Pross Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The California Clipper reached Noumea at 2.20 p.m. on Saturday, New Zealand time .after an uneventful flight from Auckland, which she left at 6.35 a.m. The Clipper took off again from Noumea for Canton Island at 6.47 a.m., New Zealand time, yesterday. She was diverted to the eastward of her normal track, to fly to Fiji, special permission having been granted by the British authorities. She arrived at Suva at 12.35 p.m., New Zealand time, and circled in the vicinity at low altitudes for about 20 minutes, before proceeding on a direct course for Canton Island. Fourteen hours and 24 minutes after leaving Noumea, the flying-boat reached Canton Island at 9.11 p.m., New Zealand time.
