Son of Foxbridge Mountain Fox, who accounted for the second division of the Wereroa Handicap at the Taranaki Hunt meeting, is a three-year-old gelding by Foxbridge from Abbey Dream. In five starts last autumn Mountain Fox was placed on three occasions, and his latest success indicates that he has gone on the right way in the interim. His dam, Abbey Dream, by Quin Abbey from Mountain Dream, was bred by Mr. R. Hannon, Cambridge, but was not a success on the turf. Answer to Correspondent The sire Paper Money headed the winning list in the 1928-29 season with 79 wins, a total of 232 placings and £22,967 in stake-money. Pair for Avondale The stable-mates Valdene and Clipper were responsible for a good workout over six furlongs at Ellerslie on Saturday morning. They both handled the heavy going in satisfactory style, particularly Valdene, who was running on impressively at the end of the trial. This pair will make their next appearance at the Avondale meeting, and their prospects of earning some money at that fixture appear bright. Appropriately Named The colt by Lord Quex from Parley, "v.i P mmarlrr. b Finland from Gossip, has been named ■ ■ !Jr e cost Mr. E. R. Williams, Sydney, 400gns. at the Trentham sales last January. The late Sir Arthur '■'aero was the author of “The Gay Lord Quex.” Progress of Youngsters Owing to the continuous wet weather, Ellerslie trainers have not been able to give their two-year-olds as much work aS on former occasions. Consequently, the majority of the youngsters are still backward, and will not be ready to race for some time. There are exceptions, however, among them being Golden Bonnet, Happicoat and Maori Star, all of whom have been allotted serviceable sprinting tasks for several weeks past, and have shown ability. Commanding Type Mr. F. Neill’s Hoariri—Waiatapai gelding is getting through serviceable tasks and will soon be nearing his best. He is a commanding type, and if looks count for anything his owner could have no cause to regret his purchase. Jungle King and Waikawa were sprinted on Saturday morning, and recorded 40 l-ssec. for three furlongs. Jumped Perfectly

Reay Bridge was sent over a round of hurdles. He did not have much pace on early but jumped perfectly throughout and recorded lmin. 53sec. lor the journey. Three light boys, Pat Fenton, R. Kerr and I. Briggs, are the only ones available to ride work at the Park, and although very little fast work is being done, their services are keenly sought after to ride pace work. P. Fenton has not had much experience in race-riding, but he has shown a lot of improvement of late and looks like turning out to be a capable rider.
