ANSWER BY TURKEY FRIENDSHIP WITH BRITAIN (Reed. Sent. 4, 9 a.m.) ISTANBUL, Sept. 2. Following a meeting of the Turkish Cabinet it is reported that the President, General Ineunu, assured the British Ambassador, Sir H. Knatch-. bull-Hugeson, that Turkey will remain faithful to the Peace Front on the side of Britain and France This is assumed to be a reply to the visit of the German Ambassador, Herr von Papen. The British Ambassador gave General Ineunu a personal message from the King, stating that he was profoundly satisfied to know that the two peoples were bound by ties of friendship. General Ineunu replied: “In tills difficult period I feel equal satisfaction that bonds of friendship arc strongly uniting Turkey and Britain.”
