CARCASES BY AIR
EXPERIMENTAL SERVICE
CANBERRA, Aug. 18
The Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr. Fairbairn, has gi'anted a threeyear contract to Mr. E. Connellan, of Melbourne, for an experimental air service carrying carcases from stations in the north-west of Australia to the freezing works at Wyndham.
Mr. Connellan. believes that it will be possible to develop a service from Alice Springs to Wyndham to carry carcases from the stations in the Victoria River Downs area to the freezing works at Wyndham. By slaughtering stock on the stations and carrying the carcases by air, the loss of quality which now occurs during droving will be eliminated. The new service at the start will be a light freight service to test the loading available. Mr. Fairbairn also announced that a short-term contract, which would operate pending rationalisation of internal services, had been let tc North-Western Airlines, Limited, for the maintenance of an air service from Sydney to Mo'ree.
