DAVIS CUP FINAL COURTS UNPLAYABLE (Elec Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 2, 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 1. Mr. H. Hopman, manager of the Australian Davis Cup team, after being besieged by inquiries by Australian and American, tennis officials as to whether play in the tie event would be affected 'by an immediate general war. replied that the Australian association promised to .issue instructions on the outbreak of hostilities. In the -meantime he firmly intended to play, feeling that nothing could be gained by a cancellation. Meanwhile wet courts were plaguing botli teams. The courts were unplayable this morning, tout the teams were hopeful that it would be possible to practice on the centre courts this afterpoon. The draw for the Davis Cup challenge round on Saturday is: Quist and Bromwich v. an unnominated team, probably Hunt and Kramer.
