Radio listeners ini town heard the news from ithd overseas broadcast stations and it spread from mouth to mouth throughout the town. Patrons of the majority of the entertainment houses in the town were ignorant of ►he official news until they saw printed extraordinary messages in the Herald window. ! 1
At the Regent Theatre the news was given to patrons per medium of the radio, the broadcast being well received. A high-powered radio set had been installed at the theatre for the past two weeks and as soon as it was learned that the news of the invasion was on the air the picture programme was broken and the wireless connection made to give listeners this Startling development in the international situation.

The startling announcement of the annexation of Danzig, followed by the German-Polish hostilities, which were featured in special editions o-f the Sydney Morning Herald and Sydney Sun last evening, created a sensation among the home-going late shopping crowds.
The. news was broadcast throughout the Commonwealth. ,
