GOVERNMENT RETENTION MINE OWNERS PROTEST (Rccd. Sept. 2. 10.30 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, Sept, l.v The Chamber of Mines has protested against the Government’s decision to retain gold profits above £1 10s a fine ounce, regarding it as a blow to confidence and a departure from the previous Government policy, by preventing an expansion of the mining of lower grade ore.
