LOCKHEEDS FOR R.A.A.F.

TEST FLIGHTS STARTED

SYDNEY, Aug. 24. In an official statement, the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation reports that test flights of the first of the 50 longdistance reconnaisance bombing planes ordered by the Australian Air Board have started, and it is expected that the first three machines will be delivered at the end of this month. The president of the corporation, Mr. Robert E. Gross, states that the company is confident that the order, which involves 6,000,000 dollars (£l,500,000) will be fulfilled well within the time limit provided for in the contract. The Royal Australian Air Force planes, he adds, will have to undergo only minor testing as they are similar to a fleet of 250 Loclcheeds now being 1 delivered to the British Air Ministry.
