ELECTION OF OFFICERS

POSSIBILITY OF TOURS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It was announced at the annual meeting of the council ol the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association last night that a world-renowned team of professional players consisting of J. D. Budge, W. F. Tilden, H. E. Vines and L. R. Stoefen may tour the Dominion next January. The following dates had been fixed for the 1939-40 season championships: February 10-17.—New Zealand junior championships, at Wellington. January 17-20.—North Island championships, at Palmerston North. January 10-13.—South Island championships, at Timaru. In moving the adoption ol the annual report, the chairman of the management committee said the preliminary reports from the manager of the New Zealand team in the Davis Cup competition showed that the expenses would be covered by the gate takings. The Australian players, Bromwich, Crawford and McGrath, were anxious to visit New Zealand for the centennial tournaments. There was little prospect of European players visiting Australia and New Zealand, except possibly the Yugoslavian Davis Clip team, which might be visiting Australia at the conclusion of its American tour. Professional Team It was stated that advice had been received that a professional team consisting of Bud 7?, Vines, Tilden and 'Stoefen had ofi'evrd to come tc New Zealand at the end of the team’s Australian tour about the middle of January next. The suggestion was to play three-day week-end matches in the major centres and one-day matches in the smaller centres. The election of officers resulted: Patron, the Governor-General, Viscount Galway: president, Mr. A. G. Henderson (Wellington); vice-presi-dents, the presidents of affiliated associations; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. N. Burns (Wellington); management committee, Messrs. J. A. McGill (North Auckland), A. G. Henderson (Taranaki), H. Clay (Auckland), N. A. Foden (Poverty „ Bay), W. J. Melody (Wanganui), H. J. Thompson (Manawatu), H. S. Wilkinson (Canterbury); auditor, Mr. F. O. Austin; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. D. Andrews, P. W. Rootham, J. Borotra and Miss N. Lloyd; representative on the Lawn Tennis Association, London, Mr. G. N. Lee: representatives on the International Lawn Tennis Federation, Messrs. G. N, Lee and G. Gotz,
