' The German liner Bremen sailed at 6.35 p.m. after having been delayed for 40 hours by the American order for a strict inspection. Coast gu,ard and police boats escorted the passengerless Bremen to the three-mile limit in order to prevent anyone boarding her. Before she cast ofT the 908 • officers and crew massed on the foredeck and accompanied by the ship’s banci, sang: “Deutschland Ueber Alles.” On orders from Paris the commander of the Normandie postponed the departure of the vessel -indefinitely. Two hundred passengers were transferred to the Aquitania, which sailed at 7.35 p.m. The New York Press is publishing unconfirmed reports that two British destroyers have been standing off Sandy Hook, reputedly to convoy the Aquitania. which is carrying the former British Ambassador, Sir Ronald Lindsay, or to seize the Bremen in the event of war.
