MINE CLOSURE PLANNED
SULPHIDE CORPORATION DIVIDENDS DECLARED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The following cable messages have been received by the Stock Exchange Association:— “The board of directors of the Sulphide Corporation- Limited notify that owing to the gradual depletion of ore reserves and rising costs, the central mine at Broken Hill will -permanently cease operations on November 30 unless unforeseen circumstances arise.” ■ The Hume Pipe Company (Australia), Limited, -made a net profit of £67,403, attar providing for taxation. At the annual meeting on October 2 the directors will recommend a final dividend on ordinary and preference shares of 3J per cent, making 7J per cenb for the year. f ,“The directors of the Australian Foundation Investment Trust have recommended a dividend of 4§ per cent payable on September 25. The annuaL meeting will be held on the same date. Ttye books will close from September 11 to 25 inclusive.”
