RELIEVING S.M.

FIRST SITTING HELD MR. LUXFORD IN GISBORNE Mr. J. H. Lux-ford, S.M., relieving magistrate at Gisborne during the absence through indisposition of the resident magistrate, Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., arrived at Gisborne from Wairoa last night and this morning took his -first local court sitting. Cases in both the Children’s and Magistrate’s Court w6re heard by His W’onsbip, who will conduct the usual sittings of both courts from to-day.

Mr. Luxford was appointed to his relieving position while stationed in Wellington, and conducted the Wairoa monthly sitting while en route to Gisborne.

Mr. E. L. Walton is reported to be making a favourable recovery from his illness, but it is expected that he will be absent from his duties for some considerable time as his illness has been a very severe one.
