Mr E. K. Cameron, president of the Hawera Chamber of Commerce, is the guest of his sister, Mrs. J. B. Clark, Muir street.. Mr. P. E. Garvey, fat stock buyer for Messrs. Simms, Cooper Limited, in the Taranaki district, is a guest at tile Coronation Hotel.

Captain J. E. Coleman is in charge of the m.v. Margaret W., which arrived at Gisborne this morning from Auckland, during the absence of Captain J. R. Owen on sick leave. Mr. J. S. Roberts, of the Wellington city engineer’s staff, has been appointed assistant engineer to the Napier City Council, to replace Mr. H. C. S. Woolcott, who resigned re cenfly. The appointment takes effec' at a salary of £4OO per annum. Mr. Colin Horsley, the young Wanganui pianist who went to Lon don last year for further study, has won the Herbert Sharpe Prize in his grade at the annual examination of the Royal College of Music.
