GUN CLUB SHOOT
TATAPGURI GATHERING TROPHY; FROM OPOTIKI S. (!. GLENNIE’S WIN A week-end shoot held at Tatapouri, under the auspices of the Tokomaru Gun Club, had as its main feature a competition for a trophy presented by the Opotiki club. This competitionwas won outright, by S. G. Glennie, with a score of 19, the winner showing excellent form throughout the contest. Tying for second place were F. Joblin', tR. Crain and B. Garth, the last mentioned of Christchurch, who 'had 18 breaks each. An American handicap of 15 birds was won by F. L. Joblin. who scored the possible, and W. Oales, K. Cameron, J. Harrison and J. Leggett tied for second money with 13. A sweepstake was conducted in connection with the above competitions, the money being divided after each seven 'birds in the major feature, and after each five in the American handicap.
Scores for the'day were:— Six-Bird Handicap 08 entries). —Rex Oates, 18yds, F. Leggett. 12yds, B. Garth, 11yds, J. Leggett, -12yds, and H. F. Smyth, 16yds, all shot the possible.
21-Bird Handicap and Sweepstake, for Opotiki Club Trophy (19 entries). —ln the first section, F. Joblin, 19yds, W. Oates, 18yds, and S. G. Glennie, 17yds, divided the sweepstake with possibles. In the second section. R. Oates, 18yds, R. Craill, 19yds, G. A. Papworth, 17yds, H. F. Smyth, 16yds. and IS. G. Glennie, 17yds, divided the stakes with six 'breaks each. In the third section F. Joblin. -B. Garth and K. Cameron all shot possibles, and divided the stakes.
15-'Bird Trophy Match and Sweepstake (18 entries).—ln the first section of five birds. F. Joblin, K. Cameron, H. F. Smyth, J. Harrison, A. R. Churches and J. Leggett shot the possible and divided the prize. In the second section, Joblin, R. Craill and W. Oates shot possibles and divided the prize. In the 'third section Jc-blin, Glennie, K. Cameron and Jack Joblin all scored the maximum. Doubles Handicap (11 entries).—K. Cameron, 16 breaks, F. Joblin, 15, S. G. Glennie, 15, H. F. Smyth, 13, were the ibest scores over the 10-pair competition. In the first section K. Cameron, at 10yds, shot 10 and took first money; F. Joblin broke eight and took second, 'and Smyth and Glennie, with seven each, divided third. In the second section Glennie, eight 'creaks, was first, F. Joblin, seven breaks, second, and Papworth, Smyth, W. Oates, Craill, Cameron and H. Newton divided third money. Six-Bird Handicap (11 entries).—F. Joblin, 20yds, and Rex Oates, 18yds. shot the possible and divided first and second money. Smyth, Harrison, W. Oates and H. Newton divided third money with five breaks each.
