HITLER INSISTENT ANSWER TO DALADIER RIGHTING OF WRONG AWARE OF CONSEQUENCES REGRET IF BLOOD SPILT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug 28, 2.50 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 28. Political circles in London consider that 'while Herr Hitler’s rejection of M. Daladier's proposal for ,negotiations concerning the differences between Germany and Poland has slightly deteriorated the situation, all is'not lost. All interest now centres on Britain’s reply of Monday to Germany.
The British United Press correspondent in Berlin states that the publication of Herr Hitler's letter is interpreted in many quarters as a decisive refusal to negotiate over the Danzig Corridor. The German Propaganda Ministry issued the text of the personal letter from Herr Hitler to M. Daladier which included the words: ‘‘l make clear the demand that Danzig and the Corridor must be. returned. If .fate should force us to fight again, I should be fighting to right a wrong. I am aware of the consequences and that the heaviest would fall on Poland, because however the fight ended, Poland would not exist as the same State.” Herr Hitler declared that lie could not tolerate the existing situation in Poland and deplored that German and French blood should be spilt following measures he might have to take in order to settle the situation. It is reported from Paris that M. Daladier replied that no Frenchman had ever done more than himself to establish cordial Franco-German re* lations. It is officially denied in Paris that Herr Hitler sent a message to the President of France, M. Lebrun.
