MONEY EXPORT PERMITS
AUSTRALIAN RESTRICTIONS GOLD COMMANDEER ONE MONTH ALLOWED (Reed, Aug. 29, 9 a.m.) CANBERRA, Aug. 28. Regulations which were gazetted today give the Commonwealth Treasurer control of all oversea .exchange transactions, and prohibit the export of money. No money can be taken or sent to any place outside Australia, except through the Commonwealth Bank or a trading bank as its agent, except m accordance with conditions determined by the Commonwealth Bank Board.
Any person who has gold is required to deliver it to the Commonwealth Bank within one month.
The issue of oversea money orders has been restricted to £5 weekly to any one person. Except for ordinary trade transactions and other limited purposes, overseas bills of exchange or promissory notes cannot be drawn on or negotiated.
The rates of exchange on London are to continue unchanged until further notice.
