Wedding of Wide Interest

Von Dadelszen—Gardiner H.H. Families United A wedding of wide interest uniting two well-known Hawke’s Bay families took place at St. Luke’s Church, Havelock North, on Friday afternoon, when Sybil Mary Michael, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Gardiner, Havelock North, was married to John Herman, elder son of Mr. H. R. von Dadelszen, also of Havelock North. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. S. F. N. Wavmouth and the Rev. S. R. Gardiner, the bride’s cousin. A wealth of fragrant spring flowers in creamy shades, with lovely pink blossom arranged artistically about the church, made a charming setting for the wedding.

The .bride entered with-her father, to the strains of Handel’s “Wher’er You Walk.”

Lovely Bridal Gown

Her lovely Edwardian period gown of pearl satin and chiffon was copied 'from her mother’s model wedding gown, the graceful and youthful lines being admirably suited to the bride. A soft chiffon ruffle with ruched edge formed the heart-shaped neckline, and the bodice, slightly shirred down the front, was fastened at the back with tiny satin buttons and loops, finishing just below the waistline. The long fitting sleeves with high shoulders were ornamented at the wrists with chiffon ruffles. A cascade effect was featured in the lc*ag chi'ffon-trained skirt. Two deep flounces of accordion-pleated chiffon, with ruched edging, fell softly over the satin foundation from just below the hips in front, and at the back was an added flounce, the three being caught at the sides with chiffon rosettes at tire top of each flounce. Her tulle veil, becomingly arranged with a coronet of orange blossom, worn by her mother oh her wedding day, was worn with a point over her face when the bride entered the church. She wore a simple pearl necklet, and carried a beautiful bouquet of magnolia stolata, freesias and carnations.

Bridesmaids in Turquoise Taffeta

Two bridesmaids and a flower girl attended the bride, Miss Faith Gardiner, the bride’s sister, chief, Miss Sheila von Dadelszen, the bridegroom's sister, and little Janet Gardiner, the bride’s niece. Turquoise French taffeta fashioned the frocks of all three ’maids, that of the little flower girl’s being a miniature of those of the older ’maids. Dainty shoulder veils of turquoise net caught with topknots of pink blossom added a charming finish to their frocks. Both bridesmaids wore the bridegroom’s gift of graduated iridescent pearl necklets, and the little flower girl also wore his gift of a long seed pearl necklet. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of pink peach blossom. The little flower girl made a pretty picture in her toe-length frock topped with a bandeau of pink flowers and carrying a posy of pink blossom. Mr. Michael von Dadelszen, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man, and Mr. Jack Kennedy, Auckland, was groomsman. The ushers at the church were Mr. Goring Kennedy, Auckland, and Mr.. James von Dadelszen. Reception at Club

The reception was held in the Women’s Service Club, Hastings. Mrs. Gardiner wore a distinctive gown of black and vintage shot chiffon velvet, and her black hat of Bangkok straw had a little rosette of black and vintage into which was tucked a Parisian pearl ornament. Her bouquet was of vintage-red cyclamen and carnations.

. Mrs. von Dadelszen was in a smart frock of navy American suede crepe embossed with a clover design. She wore a navy shiny straw hat trimmed with pink and clover flowers, and carried a bouquet of mauve cyclamen and hyacinths. The bride travelled in a model frock in Madonna rose in a fine matt wehve of gossamer wool, and an upturned hat to match with a rose and 1 turquoise bow in front. A swagger fur coat in dove grey with grey bag and accessories completed the ensemble. Mr. and Mrs. John von Dadelszen will reside in Havelock North.
