A message from Istanbul states that the German Foreign Minister, Herr Von Papen, in an interview with the President of Turkey, General Ismet Inonu, suggested that Turkey should remain neutral in the event of a conflict in Europe. General Inonu is reported to have informed Herr Papen plainly that Turkey was remaining faithful to her engagements with Britain and France.
