Tile momentary promise of negotiation between Germany and Poland encouraged Wall Street to buy stocks, resulting in an upward movement in prices sufficient to erase the losses for the week. Industrial stocks gained 2.GG points. Steel shares, which traders said would show a profit, war or no war. were the leaders with a four-point gain. United States’ bonds led a broad advance on the bond market, where foreign issues also showed an improvement.

Wheat lost a cent a bushel on the Chicago market. Cotton remained steady.
