WAIPAPA’S SURPRISE WIN ATHLETIC BEATEN 9—o (Special to tlio Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Waipapa created a surprise in the opening match of Hie Wairoa County Rug'by Sub-Union’s senior knock-out competition on Saturday when they defeated this season’s championship winners, Athletic, fcy 9 points to nil, in Mohaka. Athletic did not field their usual team, the forwards being supplemented by several junior players. Waipapa gave a good display of Rugby, the forwards and backs both combining weli. Vaipapa’s points were the result of Iwo tries, one by Kuru and the other by Tumataroa. Sherratt kicked a penally goal. The other senior future, which was to have been played in Nuhaka between Y.M.P. and Nuhaka, did not eventuate. Juniois. Athletic 13 beat VSaipapa 0.
