COLLEGIATE HOCKEY

GISBORNE’S CLOSE GAME

ONE-GOAL LOSS TO-DAY

(Special to the Herald.) ' WANGANUI, this day.

The Gisborne High School played a very close game against Palmerston North High School in the secondary schools hockey tournament to-day, the Gisborne boys losing by four goals to three. ' Play was very even throughout, with fortunes see-sawing in favour of one side and then the other. The Gisborne forwards gave a much better performance than in earlier games, for th e ground was in a much firmer state to-day. After playing on boggy grounds during the first three days and with two games a day on some occasions, the Gisborne boys are very tired. They will play lheir last game against Wanganui to-morrow.
