ATTENDANCE AT COURT WAIAPU DIFFICULTY APPEAL TO CHIEF JUSTICE (Special to the Herald.) TE PUIA, this day. Representations are to toe made to the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, •With a view to avoiding prolonged absences of the Waiapu Hospital Board’s medical superintendent from bis centre on occasions wheel, he is called to, Gisiborne to give evidence before the Supreme Court.

This action (follows an instance some months ago when the hospital was inconvenienced owing to the superintendent’s prolonged s'tay in Gisborne through being called to give evidence in a Supreme Court case. Some correspondence had passed between the board and the Justice Department, and the matter was further discussed iwhen the Under-Secretary of the department, iMr. B. L. Dallard, visited the district recently. Reporting on Mr. Dallard’s visit the chairman, Mr. A. J. K. Kirkham, said he had asked the department’s cooperation when the doctor was called away to give evidence in. the Supreme Court in Gisiborne.

This was a serious matter, Mr. Kirkham Said, as it was impossible to arrange for medical service during the doctor’s absence. Mr. Kirkham said that he bad been kindly received toy iMr. Dallard, who undertook to make representations to the Chief Justice, and he' hoped that satisfactory arrangements could toe made for these occasions.
