BUOYANCY IN INDUSTRY

N.Z. FACTORIES BUSY SURVEY BY MINISTER (Pur Pres 9 Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. “Altogether, the position revealed shows the remarkable buoyancy in industry and the various manufacturing units report that the future cannot be viewed in other than an optimistic manner,’’ said the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, in a statement reviewing industrial expansion, during the week.

The Minister said he had received reports from all over the Dominion telling of the exceptional activity in woollen mills, and other gratifying reports had been received in respect of electrical manufactures, footwear and clothing and shirtmaking trade.

An indication that more land was being brought into cultivation, was found in the Auckland dis'rict report of increased sales of implements for breaking in virgin soil.
