GERMANS ON MARKET REGARDLESS OF COST (Reed. Aug. 21. 9 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 19. The Times understands that the bulk of Ithe turnover of 3250 tons of copper in yesterday’s market was on German account, the sales being the largest since October. Cash business was at the rate of £44 18s 9d, with a settlement price of £45, the highest this year. The ' City editor of the News Chronicle says that the German orders for copper .and 1 rubber were executed regardless of cost. The rubber exchange is enjoying almost a record turnover owing to a German order for 4000 tons. The orders will be satisfied from British stocks which already arc dangerously low.
