POINT-TO-POINT
P.B. HUNT FIXTURE GOOD DAY AT' BUSHMERE ■ '1 MISS BLUE WINS OPEN ROYAL STUART’S SUCCESS Success exceeding expectations attended the annual point-to-point meet held at Bushmere on Saturday by the Poverty ißay Hunt Club, the strong sporting counter-attractions failing to spoil either the attendance or interest of the fixture.
The heavyweight steeplechase was won by Royal Stuart, whose pace between the fences was too hot for the other entries, and who got over his fences without trouble, though much inclined to run them down. He was ridden eap'albly by F. A. Bruce, who kept him to his task at the fences, and made good use of Royal Stuart’s pace when, needed. M. R. Moore’s Grand Sport was second, and Mrs. D. Craig’s Bronze Wing, a Wairoa entry, third. In the lightweight steeplechase, M. R. Moore rode Gisborne Jack to success, this entry being owned by the rider and Miss D. Hansen. E. J. Murphy’s Banquet was second, and K. Wilson’s Flying Foam third. The master of hounds, Mr. H. H. Dods, had ’a win on his own entry, Miss Blue, in the open steeplechase event, and M. R. Moore was placed second on Miss M. Williams’ Love Lilt. Bronze Wing, the Wairoa entry, was third, and an interesting feature of the results of all three cross-country events was that S. : H. Jones, well known in this district, rode the thirdplaced horse in each. Results in Detail Heavyweight Steeplechase.—W. S. Black’s Royal Stuart (F. A: Bruce), 1;
