PEPERE GOLD CUP

RETAINED BY WAIAPU TOKOMARU BAY DRAW (Herald Correspondent.) The Waiaou Rugby representatives were lucky to retain the Pepcre Gold Cup in the match with the Tokomaru Bay representatives in Tikitiki on Saturday.

The game, which was fast and exciting, ended in a nine-point draw. Waiapu had the best of the first spell, keeping their -opponents busy defending all the time, but after the change-over Tokomaru Bay took charge and had Waiapu on the defensive.

For Waiapu M Hyland and T. Tangahue, in the backs, did best, while H. Anderson was easily the pick of the forwards. T. Tamahori, the full-back, also played a great game.

Tries for Tokomaru were scored by T. Matahiki, L. Ross and T. Tuhou. M. Hyland scored for Waiapu and Anderson kicked two ipenalty goals.

Mr. W. Tuhoro was the referee.
